I drive a 2004 4wd RAV4 A/T. I used to get 9kms/liter now it's down to about 6 kpl. Last month, I had my tires replaced, as well as the air filter and spark plugs (iridium--by the way, what advantage does this have over regular spark plugs?). I also had the tires aligned. Now it's doing a bit better at 7.5 kpl but still not as good as 9kpl

I don't have a roof rack; don't have too much stuff in the car.

There may be a problem with the O2 sensors on your car that keep it from going into closed loop operation. Take it to a mechanic who can scan the computer operating data and look for parameters that are out of specs.

The gasoline supplied to us is different at times. The reasons being ethanol content and low emissions formulations. You may have used a better fuel in the past then is being sold now without being informed of changes.Notice the difference in the smell of the gas from one fillup to the next.I've noticed this causes a problem with my small engines making it necessary to use premium fuel.

As the car gets older, it consumes more gas. another reason is the way you drive it, the acceleration, etc. also it depends on the weather. and so many other reasons, you should state your car conditions and weather if you using it for highways or in city. sometimes the octan and the type of gas u using vary from one type to another which causes difference in fuel consumption

You'll need to be a lot more specific, because there are approximately 500 million things that can cause your MPG to go down.
