Thrush is an infection caused by a yeast called Candida. Small numbers of Candida commonly live on the skin and around the vaginal area. These are usually harmless. The immune system and the harmless bacteria that normally live on the skin and in the vagina usually stop Candida from thriving. However, when conditions are good for Candida, it multiplies and may invade the vagina and cause symptoms.

The conditions Candida likes best are warm, moist, airless parts of the body. This is why the vagina is the most common site for Candida infection. Other areas of the body which are prone to Candida infection include the groin, the mouth, and the nappy area in babies.

More than half of all women have at least one bout of thrush in their life. In most cases it develops 'out of the blue' for no apparent reason.

However, certain factors can make thrush more likely to develop. The vagina contains mucus and some harmless bacteria which help to defend the vagina from Candida (and other germs). These natural defences may be altered or upset by certain situations. For example: when you are pregnant, if you have diabetes, or if you take antibiotics.

People with a poor immune system are also more likely to get thrush. For example, people on chemotherapy, on high dose steroids, with AIDS, etc.

Check the following website for more info. Sorry to tell you that it's contagious, so your partner might have already gotten it from you.

Thrush is just a yeast infection - caused by the PH balance of your vagina being too low. Yogurt helps balance it out, but there is not really a natural way to cure it once you have it because the yeast keeps multiplying. You could try buying monistat ovules from the drug store, you insert them into your vagina for 3 days and it helps get rid of it. Sometimes that is not enough to get rid of it though. The doctor can prescribe a little pill that you only have to take once and it is an anti fungal. Honestly it is nothing to be embarrassed about, i'm sure every girl has had it at some point so i'm sure you could talk to your mom about it. Other things that cause it are: -Wearing too tight pants -Non cotton underwear (because other materials do not breathe) -Being damp in the area, ex. not changing out of a wet bathing suit right away -Scented soaps and bubble baths can cause them too

It's so natural, simple, fast and easy but not expensive!I think it will help you, too

If you practice good genital hygiene, you can help prevent infection:
+) Keep your vaginal area clean. Use mild, unscented soap and water. Rinse well.
+) After using the toilet, wipe from front to back to avoid spreading yeast or bacteria from your anus to the vagina or urinary tract.
+) Wear underwear that helps keep your genital area dry and doesn?t hold in warmth and moisture. One good choice is cotton underwear.
+) Avoid tight-fitting clothing, such as panty hose, and tight-fitting jeans. These may increase body heat and moisture in your genital area.
+) Change out of a wet swimsuit right away. Wearing a wet swimsuit for many hours may keep your genital area warm and moist.
+) Change pads or tampons often.
+) Don't douche or use deodorant tampons or feminine sprays, powders, or perfumes. These items can change the normal balance of organisms in your vagina.

I think so you might have some type of infection. You should go to the doctor. You might just have a yeast infection if not its possible you might have some sort of STD. If its just a rash I don't think you can spread it to your partner only if its caused by having sex too often it can get dry and rashy or maybe it could jus be the heat. So yea, I think you should jus' go to the doctor because there are alot of things that could be causing this reaction. I hope this helps! : )

When you have thrush you can pass it on to your partner, but he will show no signs of it.( according to my doctor) but must still put the cream on his pecker to stop it passing back to you. I have a looong history with this ailment. Yoghurt eaten daily will really keep it at bay. and have regular pap smears as i have had cervical cancer twice and i found that when i have had thrush lots, it has been a sign that the cancer is back.
