Those are two sides of the same coin. You'd better just focus on the coin. It doesn't make sense to just focus on one side. If there was no negative there would be no positive. So, you couldn't experience the pleasure of the positive if you never felt the pain of the negative.
As I am an entrepreneur I'll give you another perspective. When you focus on the positive, you'll have excellent sources of inspiration and innovation; you'll be able to see opportunities. That's the upshot of focusing on the positive.
Now, when you focus on the negative, you'll prepare yourself for all postive loopholes in a business strategy and you'll be prepared for any contingencies. That's the upshot of focusing on the negative.
See, it's a continuous cycle; to optimize the potential of each side you need to maintain a balance, "the viamedia" or as the Buddhists call it, "the middle way". Serenity is the key.
Follow your spirit.

When given a glass of drink and asked if it was half full or half empty, I would concern myself first, to a certain degree of reason, about the nature of its contents. Lets assume there is pure milk in the glass. Then if the glass is half empty then I would see that there is still room for more, room for hope. I would then receive it with half the hope. But if the glass is only half full then I would accept it with full gratitude.
But the question is simplistic; it is a question about general attitude towards life, and situations in life. This question asks if I am an optimistic person? The answer to this simple question is simple too. Yes! I am an optimistic person. I do like to see a silver lining in every cloud. I do seek to find good in everything I see. I too live through the bleakest of nights with hope that a new dawn will cause yet another bright day. I see that there is an end to all things, as all things pass. If I learn to accept something good today with gratitude, I can then hope to receive something better tomorrow.

Most ppl in this situation would say that they see the glass as half full. Unfortunately, in today's society, that is neither true, nor helpful. someone can fool themselves into thinking that it's half full, yet in the human mind, there is always that doubt and that half empty view. even if there is a person who does truly see the glass as half full, most of the time, they are just an anomaly of the world. i mean, who's to say that the "half full" glass isn't about to fall to the floor, crashing and spilling water everywhere? Personally, i see it as half empty, as to not get my hopes up. However, in the occassion that calls for confidence, i find that i see the glass still being poured into, which is what usually helps get something done! hope this helped. =]

If I've done or had some encounter that was something good, then naturally I will relish the positive, if I have done or encountered something that causes anguish, hurt or to be upset, then naturally I dwell on the negative, but I work at letting the negative fleet and regaining a positive perspective. It's the only way to survive.

Hiya there! :-) I guess I'm neither positive or negative, just realistic! However there are sometimes when PMA (positive mental attitude) is useful...Positivity is hope, and more often than none hope is all we have!
I don't like pretending that everything is lovely-jubbly, when they aren't..Admitting there is a problem & confronting is the most effective way to go about something!
So, I guess my glass seems to empty and then re-fill again...Pretty upredictable, no?
Thank You!

That depends on the decision at hand. List all the positives and all the negatives. Sometimes the best decision is he one with the smaller number of negatives, not the bigger number of positives.

I try to focus on the positive,
and to take the negative where I find it and make it into positive.
If I see the glass needs filling I fill it up.
If I see a sad face I try to make it smile.

I am mostly optimistic -
I analyse that I am mostly lazy because optimists expect good things to happen.
When I have some energy - I become a pessimist and work more actively with more prudence.
But generally, I am optimistic - therefore more smiling and acceptable to my peer group and enviroment.
I also hate people who complain all the time and do not trust others.
It is a simple question but complicated to analyze.
