I started my period on a Sunday, and per directions from my health care provider & on the directions of the Rx, I started my birth control that day. My period normally lasts 3-4 days. A week after I started my period (and days after my period STOPPED), I had sex with my boyfriend, but started bleeding during/after sex. Is this possibly a reaction from birth control? I am on OrthoTricyclen Lo & take the pill at exactly 8 a.m.

Yes, this could be a side effect from the pill. Sometimes when the body is trying to adjust to being on the pill there can be some spotting (very light bleeding) or breakthrough bleeding (bleeding that is a lot like a period although it isn't).

I would recommend checking with your dr as well to see what they say.

Yes it is absolutely normal. The doctors always have told me to give the pill 3 months/3 packs to allow your body to adjust to the pill in your system. Also the one you are on is an extremely low dose of the hormones, so if you are still spotting after your normal period in 3 months you may need a stronger pill. I personally had to go through several different kinds to find what worked for me. Also, the pill isn't considered effective against pregnancy until you have been on it for a few months, it doesn't take effect immediatly ( just a little fyi) I hope this was helpful!

You didn't specify what was that - real bleeding like your period or just spotting. If it's spotting - it's normal, since your body is adjusting to the pill, which is new to you. If you had a real period for several days, consult your doctor right away!
