because the journey matters, not the destination... it's for our soul, not our head.

It's true that the more you know, the more you forget what you know. BUT there will be more knowledge left if you continue on studying!!
Studying is a continuous process just like the saying "education is for life". Study while you can when you have book in your hand, a newspaper or watching an educational TV...
Don't just read an item. Let that brain analyse and understand its contents. This way you won't easily forget them.
Make reading a hobby and studying will follow.

i can answer this way.
Libraries continually add books to their stocks.
Existing books get lost, others not returned.
Also, the librarians have a clear out of rarely borrowed
books;and they have this clear out regularly.
Some books are held specially because they are deemed
worthy and valuable.
Thus, similarly,it should be seen that studying (a subject)
follows a similar path.
And there are other and "higher"paths-of-study too.
Take "meta-mathematics", or "astrophysics".
These usually lead-on from the basic or groundwork study
done up to a particular point.
And dont worry about these points and change-overs;a
lot of studying is done for its own sake,as at least one
other answerer has said already.
And some of this almost naturally gets sorted and divided,
and forgotten.Sometimes for a lifetime,sometimes longer.
(And things do get rediscovered,too).

From my opinion......
Studying to cope with the world.... and to be sophisticated.
Forgetness...........Concerning to your capacity ..Others can forget easily while others are hardly to forget (Iam one of those hardly to forget .!!!)
If you want to forget ...you will .........but if you insist not to forget .,,,,,the information will be locked in your mind and only you have the key either to release it at the optimum point or to forget it....
This question if you are asking it for me.......
Simply i love to study and science...
I ADORE studying and science and being in the library..
Thanks GOD i am not forgetting any thing which is my Biggest Problem
The Inspires of Mine are
1) Armstrong
2) Shakespeare
3) Einstin
I love them and always remember them :)
All are in different fields but proved themselves powerfully..

Why not?
Ever wonder how do we expect to be living human kind of intelligent design?
Are you sure you don't want to be the "Ultra-man" ?
Look at the living examples in iraq on being created backwards to be cave-men.
Are we sure we are mastering our creator's universal gifts of life vital for the survival and advancement of living human kind?
Look at the mess created out there in mastering ghostly kitchen's ghost stories and ghostly modern history of failures and horrors of the past from the graveyards of different ancestor's custom.
Ever wonder how the dead Mummies all risen from the graveyards of failures and horrors of the past ancestor's custom in scaring the hell and living daylights out of the misery of living human kind at loss and stranded out there.
Ever wonder who got themselves all kick on the butts by the dead Mummy?
