but then dont you become the murderer to the family of the person you are getting revenge on? You would put their family through the same as you are going through! Although saying that i possibly wouldnt think the same if it happened to me, anyone hurts my loved ones and i would definitly want revenge. The justice system sucks in uk, a life sentence doesnt even mean 'life' if it did then maybe that would be enough without people taking the law into their own hands.
take the guy in the news this week - 35 years for the rape and murder of his own 2 year old neice - he will be getting out when i have grandchildren! That poor little baby went through hell in her last hours (i am crying just thinking about it) if someone took revenge into their own hands instead of waiting 35 years for him to get out and re-offend then maybe that wouldnt be such a bad thing.
Then again 'an eye for an eye and the whole world will end up blind'

My mother was murdered, my father swore that he would kill the man that did it when he got out of prison, but attitudes soon change. The initial shock and anger is overwhelming, but you have to think of those people who would be affected if you were to go to prison for seeking revenge.

Someone actually offered to beat the guy up (he served a short prison sentence thanks to our old friend "diminished responsibility" and at first I agreed to it, but then I thought of his son, who would have been 10 at the time, if the beating was to go too far and he was killed, his son would have to go through just what I did and I would never want that.

My father soon remarried and got on with his life, and I slowly came to terms with the fact that all the beatings in the world couldn't bring my mother back. I hope that the man that did it sees her terrified face every night for the rest of his life, begging for him not to shoot her, that should be punishment enough. I would like to see him one day and ask him how he feels to have killed someone (he killed two innocent people) and tell him how he tore my family part and drove me to attempt suicide, and how he feels to have also brought about the early deaths of my mother's parents who died within a year of her murder. I do want him to suffer, but mentally.

If my husband was to be murdered (God forbid it happens to me twice in my life) Iwould want to seek revenge, I know I would, but for the sake of our unborn daughter I wouldn't do anything. If someone murdered my daughter, well that doesn't even bear thinking about.

This is very morbid, but it is a miserable wet day so I will indulge.
The answer has to be yes, If anyone laid one finger on my little boy, they would pay!

Also I am a Scorpio, we are big on revenge!

I've just read some of the answers and it's all us Mums who are the total psycho's, God help any one who would touch our kids. Mums rule! lol

Normally I am a very peaceful and loving person, but in this circumstance yes I would. I would torture them without giving it a second thought and I would not feel guilty about it for one second. I would never leave it to the courts cuz they make too many damned mistakes and I would want the SOB to suffer.

I would fiercely seek some real justice...to seek revenge would probably come to mind but it would not bring them back, and two wrongs never make a right.... i would want to see justice done....if it were my child now...woe to them... it wouldn't take a second thought in this instance.

There'd be nowhere to hide from me.
Forget murder. Not good enough. i'm talkin' bout severing fingers and toes. Mashing kneecaps into jelly. Anal probing with rabid grounghogs. Blood transfusions to keep them alive. Lemon and salt in open orifices. Teeth extraction. Castration.
i could probably play for weeks.

Then we BOTH go to prison for awhile... or i'd go to prison and they'd go wherever blind, deaf, mashed-up stumpies get to go to to serve out their sentence. i'd serve mine with a smile - they wouldn't have any lips to ever smile again. Or teeth. Or tongue. Or ... well you get the idea.
Do you think the authorities would believe me if i say that " i found them that way"?

i think the only time that i would resort to something like that was if someone hurt my son... then i wouldn't think twice about getting revenge.... living without my son would be hard enough, but totally impossible if his killer was still out there.

u are right - that is one very morbid question !

The feelings you have when it happens are going up and down so fast that if the opportunity arose then at that time yes .

I agree with the first answer and I hope it never happens. I don't think I could cope alone. We have been together 21 years. Good question you asked though.
