I don't know about the NBA, but he's the best I've ever seen.

It's not just how many points he scores. It's how he scores them. Look at that Blazers game in March. in OT, he was cornered on the baseline with 3 people around him. He spins left and right, and out of nowhere, whoosh! His sense of direction is amazing. If I had to spin around like that, I couldn't shoot the ball into a rim 5 feet wide. No one can block his fadeaway, unless they're 11 feet tall.

He can dunk, drive, and shoot from long range, and his free throws are excellent too. He's got a broad repertoire of skills

He used to be a ballhog, but not anymore. 5.4 assists IS passing. If Kwame Brown didn't fumble perfect passes out of bounds every game, then he's have at least 7.

I never saw MJ play, and Wilt passed away before I was born. So far, Kobe's the best I've seen. I think it's a little strange how he's never gotten an MVP. He comes close every year, but never quite gets there

NO. At most, he could only be No. 4. Bear in mind that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar scored the most points in NBA history. Michael Jordan was 10-time scoring champion and has the highest career scoring average of 30.12 PPG. Just a shade under at 30.1 PPG is Wilt Chamberlain, also a multiple scoring champ, who once averaged 50 PPG and, of course, scored 100 in a game. Study your basketball history first before jumping into conclusion. Kobe's a great scorer but he's not yet in the league of these 3 NBA greats.

Nope, not by a long shot. MJ and Wilt "the Stilt" were better than Kobe. Today's young players spend too much time trying to score themselves and not getting other players on their team involved. Prime example was Kobe during his streak of consecutive 50+ points a game. He was taking more shots than he should have only because he was trying to get the record. If I remember correctly at least one game he was the only one on his team to attempt doulbe figures in shots. Everyone else had less than 10.

YES!!!!....no doubt about it...the NBA has never ever seen a player that can go out there on any given night and score 50...jordan couldnt do it, kareem couldnt do it but kobe can that is why i think he will become the greatest player that the NBA has ever seen......also he is a very good defender he is extremely under rated in that area. plus defenses are way harder now days...when wilt play kobe could have averaged 200 points a season...end of discussion....GREATEST SCORER EVER!!!

Next to Wilt, yes. There is no stopping Kobe Bryant.
81 points speak for themselves. And Wilt era feels like it was centuries ago, so forget Wilt. Its the Kobe Era.

Someone in the bottom answer called Kobe an "above average" all star and scorer. The Joke of the decade.

I agree. Ballhog or not, Kobe's gotta be the greatest scorer. He can absolutely create shots for himself. Heck, he's even better than Michael at some things. But overall, MJ still and will always be the greatest player.

Study your NBA History Boy.

Your question smacks of IGNORANCE. Try looking up guys named WILT CHAMBERLAIN & MICHAEL JORDAN.

The only reason Kobe gets those outrageous scores is because he's a ball hog on a pathetic losing team. Nobody cares, not even the coach if he jacks up 40 shots & misses 30 because they'll just end up losing anyway.

Any superstar could average as much as he does, if he puts up as many shots. Look at AI. He scored about as much as Kobe during his Sixers day & he's about 6 inches shorter, so you could argue that he's better than Kobe.

kobe is pretty damn good. He's defiantly ONE of the greatest, but the greatest scorer ever is wilt chamberlain. he averaged over 50 points one season. Kobe is defiantly the best in the league right now, with carmelo and gilbert behind him.

no longer the terrific scorer. probly wont destroy kareems checklist rationalization for his age. i think of the only guy or woman in nba atm that has of challenge to interrupt kareems checklist is durant. he's averaging 30 and hes in basic terms 21. shop that up for 10 yrs then decline slowly from 5 greater and bam
