i LOVE summer dresses (sundresses) cuz they're so versatile... they're all i pack for vacations now!
for day, i pair with flip flops, those cute little shrugs/cardigans made of t-shirt material (Victoria's Secret has lots of them that come as PJ sets but are adorable for wearing out), big sunglasses and a big slouchy bag -- with a ponytail
then for nite, i pair the same dress with kitten heels, sequined cardigan, smaller fancier bag -- with my hair in loose up-do or down & extra wavy with rhinestone barrette
this is the best space-saving tip for vacation packing!
have fun!

Personally, I'd rather be overdressed than under dressed. You can wear scandals instead of heels. Wear costume jewelry that is "Summerish", for example a shell necklace or a flip-flop charm ( these are inexpensive but look nice and casual ). Stores such as Claire's, Fashion Bug, Hot Topic, to name a few. Let your hairstyle reflect a casual look. Use a hair clip, even a ponytail ( they are in style again). How long is your hair?? Anyway,I hope that this helps.

The thing over here in NYC is the sun-dress with flats. Think muted colors like cream, mint green, peach, any thing pastel to keep it cute but casual. The bold prints are also in, but sometimes can be too loud so unless you're personality is confident, I don't recommend it. Cotton and linen are the way to go. With the ballet flats, nothing super sparkly or catchy. Think casual class. A big bag is a great way to dress down any outfit.

Well if you are going to wear a summer dress add jeans underneath, a casual hobo bag, and maybe some big earrings. It is really easy to dress down a summer dress. The most important part is to have fun with what you are wearing. Your confidence plays an important part of your outfit. Remember to have fun with color, and most importantly be yourself.

to start, don't wear heels. wear some cute flats, the more casual the better, or maybe even flip flops. also, if you wear your hair down it doesn't look as dressed up. carry a bigger purse rather than small clutch and maybe add a cute pair of sunglasses. oh, and not too much jewelry. too fancy.
:)

It's all about the shoes. If you wear flip flops you will not be over dressed.
Jewellery also has an effect - casual costume jewelry or none at all is the way to go.

With the dress, don't wear heals or anything. Keep it casual. Flip flops. Keep your hair the way you think is casual.
