Are people with some sort of psychic talent more prone to possession by either malicious spirits or daemons?

There are a number of conditions under which demonic possession or harassment can occur, and most have nothing to do with whether one is "good" or "evil" To wit:

Severe emotional trauma of any kind.

Creates a "soul vacuum" that can permit demonic or 'rogue' entities to enter into one.

Substance abuse

Drugs and drinking "tear holes" in one's protective aura and permit easy access by many undesirable, to downright evil entities. The leakage of vital force attracts them like sharks are attracted to a blood spill in water.

General anesthesia

This induces a negative state and permits easy access for lurking entities to gain a foothold.

Attraction

People who lead an unsavoury lifestyle and who are attracted to the perverse, evil, and debauched attract undesirable entities to themselves, on the principle that like attracts like. Also people who harbour a constantly negative outlook (rage, hatred,despair) will attract a swarm of negative and possibly demonic entities to themselves, which is generally facilitated by the fact that such people are almost always involved in the abuse of drugs or alcohol as well.

Curiosity

People can attract demonic entities to themselves simply by idly dabbling in things that they believe to be harmless. They may attend a "Black Mass" out of curiosity, or they may hang around with a person who is involved in the Black arts, either because they have no idea that the person is involved in such things, or because they simply want to find out more about it. A sort of 'transference' of evil entities can take place, which can be a difficult situation to resolve.

Invitation

Ouija boards are the very worst for this sort of thing. A respected magickian of my acquaintance assures me that many of the cases he sees were started by people fooling around with ouija boards, because one must 'invite" these energies, and this is precisely how a ouija board works. Trance channelling and "automatic writing' is another way it can happen, as well as dabbling in ritual. Unless you know how to "send something away", you should never "call anything up"! Many ignorant Newage teachers set their students up for trouble this way; I know of one case personally, who this happened to, and the teacher turned out to be of NO USE WHATEVER when the person began to experience all kinds of strange phenomena in their house as a result of the things they had been taught!

Improper use of ritual

Many people try to use magickal formulae on their own, with no real idea of what they are doing. This can result in 'hauntings" and obsession by the spirit world.

Improper handling

Sometimes people "escalate" simple spirit encounters through fear or lack of respect. The spirit entity or ghost is angered, and initiates "mayhem" as a result.

Misguided or improper energetic training.

People who attempt practices like "kundalini-raising" or deep meditations they are not ready for can "set themselves up for" demonic oppression or possession. Improperly practicing astral projection or auto-hypnosis can also increase the chance of pathological spirit interaction.

Sexual promiscuity

Many demons and low-level spirit entities are attracted to the energies thrown off by sexual activity. Promiscuous people generally carry around many of these with them, and they will frequently enter into a "symbiotic relationship" (conscious or unconscious) with their icky astral passengers , whereby the entities will 'facilitate" the host's "hookups" with partners so that the entities will have plenty of energies to "feed" from.

Living in haunted places

People who deliberately expose themselves longterm to places where negative energies have been stirred up by one means or another are setting themselves up for trouble of this nature. Places where evil acts have occurred, or where many people have suffered and died (old jails, hospitals and mental asylums, for instance) are the worst for this sort of thing. A sort of "doorway" is set up into the lower realms, and thus the person in contact with this phenomenon is exposed to an incredible amount of negative energy, which of course, gradually takes its toll on any resistance they may have to its influence.

Haunted objects

Simply having objects in one's surroundings that have been exposed to evil or severe trauma may also facilitate possession, particularly if they are worn on the body. Statues or ritual objects may also prove troublesome if they have been used in rites of evil conjuration. Photos, books and letters may also have undesirable energies clinging to them, and give demonic energies a "foothold" into one's living area.


I might also add that simply professing religious affiliation or indulging in superficial 'religious' activity does NOT preclude one from demonic or spirit possession. Most people's religious affilliation is nothing like as deep or genuine as they would like to think, and thus they are just as susceptible to possession as anyone else, hence the number of nominally religious people who exhibit 'demonic' or highly irregular behaviour at variance with "christian" principles, despite their paying much lip service paid to "Jesus".

I am a Christian and I don't try to convert anyone as to me, that is forcing something down someone's throat and I am not for that. I believe that Christ died for our sins and we are all protected by His blood.
I am Catholic and thought that I would catch allot of crap for being a psychic and for My work I do with the Paranormal. I have seen demons, don't like them. I have seen so many ghosts and Spirits and apparitions since I was 5 years old. I don't believe that anyone can be possessed unless that is what they want for themselves. I highly recommend that no one ever do that. Not safe and you don't know why a demon or a malicious spirit wants a human form. I would say whatever it is, it would not be good. I have had my pyschic ability for as long as I can remember and I have never had anything try to possess me. I don't know of anyone who has been possessed by anything because of their pyschic ablities. I am far from saying that it does not happen as I believe it does. I am very careful who I am around and on an investigations that we do, our whole group is there and if by some unknown reason one of the group got possessed our group is highly trained for any unwanted invaders to be in our bodies and know how to get rid of something right away.
When I started doing investigations for people, it has been over 10 years now and right from the get go I laid down my guidelines and poseession was at the top of the list. I recently quit this one Parahaunt group because they were now playing with fire for themselves and the group. So, 3 of us said bye and did not look back. I formed another group and was very picky on who I let join. I don't think that is mean or discremanating at all. It is called. being safe for everyone and they have had excellent training for this kind of thing we do. I have actually talked to 4 Priests about what I do and I have gotten special blessings for me and for our group. I have also been told by a couple of Priests where some real nasty evil is and to please not go there. I listen to them and we do not go to those kinds of places because I do not nor want any kind of highly specialized training to deal with demons. If we go into someone's home or business, I am straight upfront with them that if we find what is harassing them is a demon, we are packing up our equipment and leaving. I never leave a place where we have had to in the pass, the people unprotected and I always give them the phone # of a man who does only demons and has for over 35 years and he knows his work well.
Sorry to all of you. I got an urge from someone who needed to hear something I said and I did not ramble on for nothing. Not when I can help someone else out. I don't ramble on to make me look good, I am here for someone who needed what I could offer them. If I put myself on a pedestal than I have no business doing this type of work. That is also a good way for a demon to take you over.
I liked this question alot and I think this question should be asked more often also. To many out there in the world who are playing with their lives and not knowing what could honestly happen to them if they don't stop fooling around with something they don't know about. Any time you open the portal between realms (physical, spiritual or astral) you have the potential of inviting both invited and uninvited guests.

Psychics don't necessarily have to open the portals in order to practice. They have a spiritual connection without having to open a portal each time and a great deal of the time spirits find them as opposed to their going looking.

The portal can transport good and evil by anyone who opens it whether it be psychics, witches, casters, amateurs, etc.

I don't think it is more likely they be possessed as anyone who contacts within the realms is vulnerable to it.

No I am a psychic I am not possessed in the least in fact I help alot of people which I know my ability is coming from God himself. I used to wonder how did people actually burn people they assumed was a witch and now in 2007 it seems peoples minds havent expanded an inch.

It would certainly seem so. People who are drawn to the occult seem to suffer from depression more than any other group, but whether this is a result from exposure to the occult or if they were drawn to the occult as a result of depression is pretty unclear.

But if a person is more sensitive to unseen presence to begin with can experience phenomenon almost anywhere, anytime, not just places of spirit activity (i.e. "haunted places").

Many times feelings of fear or dread are projected from the presence rather than originating from the person who has psychic ability. The spirit may not be consciously attacking in some cases, although it might be true in other cases. It may be a case of empathy on a psychic level.

In the case of demons, if angels are attracted to psychics, it stands to reason that demons are, too. They're the same creature, just on different sides.

Want to get rid of demons easily and quickly? Ring a bell. Three times ought to do it. Demons hate them. That's why church towers have them. Sprinkle some holy water or salt in clockwise direction to keep them away.

Never summon one. They just do what they want, not what you want them to, and are notorious liars.

It's pretty helpful that you believe in and accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. He's a good listener, and a great friend to have on your side in times of trouble.
