no real difference. neo-con has now become a dirty word like liberal in the conservative lexicon. they use the term neocon to attempt to distance themselves from their felloe conservatives who are now circling the bowl. as in i'm a real con, not one of those neo-cons that f***** everything up so badly. policy wise - no real difference.

Neocon originated as an anti Semitic slur to describe Jews who became Republicans. There is nothing more that a liberal hates than a someone from a group who has traditionally voted Democratic who has chosen to think for themselves and step off of the liberal plantation.

I believe the term is now just an attempt to smear conservatives.

I myself have no problem with being described as a neocon.

It just goes to show you that liberals are unable to argue the facts, they have none, they must rely on slurs. Bad news we could care less.

Neocons are basically the exact opposite of liberals. They oppose anything they percieve as liberalism, denouncing it as socialism.
they are so extreme in their ideals, that they have even denounced traditional conservatives as liberals for not totally adhereing to their extremist dogmas.
another word for a neocon, is a Nixonian, which tends to be an insult to most Republicans.

Want a good example of one, just look up Joseph McCarthy.
