No, unfortunately not. The DirecTV DVr's have dual tuners that are exclusively for a digital signal only, not an analog signal at all. Secondly DirecTV DVR's have to have a Valid subscription card to be able to record anything. Your best bet since you must own teh DirecTV DVR is to sell it on Ebay or www.craigslist or somewhere like that. Take the money you make from sellling it and use it towards a DVR from Time Warner or if you EVER want to be able to record the shows/movies off of the DVR onto a DVD then buy a Tivo..

Nope Directv tivo is basically Directv and tivo combined into one receiver unit. This requires a subscription to directv services which requires a satellite feed on top of your house and a line to the directv tivo receiver.

Cable signal trasmission line is totally different than satellite.
