They serve the President's purpose, to keep the evangelical base fired up, full of fear, feeling like they're being persecuted, and looking to the President and the Republican Party to save them and defend their Christian fundamentalist values. Qualifications, abilities, integrity be damned, if they can keep the votes coming in and keep Bush happy. It doesn't matter that they are no more qualified to serve than "heck of a job Brownie" was.
I would venture to say there have been more lies and more dishonesty, not to mention more criminal actions, in this White House than in any other in recent history, including the Nixon administration. So much for their "Christian" values.
But it's not a crime if you don't get caught. And even then, as Nixon proved in the '70's and Bush proved today, it's okay because the President has the right to abuse his authority to grant pardons. The President and anybody he likes, or who can help him politically, is above the law now.

It's par for the course, ideology over competence. I wouldn't grudge the neo-cons for wanting small government if they could at least give us one that wasn't so thoroughly dysfunctional.

I think it's cool. I had to pass the bar and start my own practice. The other Regent grads in my town work for the DA.
Regent is an ABA accredited law school.
