Aside from the crap/corporate statements, I'd call them post-grunge. They'd fit under the 3rd wave (1st wave = Candlebox/Collective Soul, 2nd Wave = Creed).
The band has qualities under genres like alternative rock and hard rock along with post-grunge. Those are your 3 best fits.
The band most certainly is not alternative metal or metal at all as they lack a lot of characteristics of either.
