a wood responded " Besides, Libby's whole trial was the democrats going after whoever they could in the republican party, since they either couldn't, or just didn't have the balls, to go after the person who actually leaked the operative. " this is so ignorant it is hard to respond to in a logical manner but here goes ...

first it was the CIA who requested the investigation which eventually forced the bush department of justice (read repig here) to appoint a prosecutor appointed by dubya bush. the trial was held in a federal court sans any political leanings ... but if there were ... the judge was appointed by a repig. it should be noted, the judge has a well earned reputation of being hard on crime regardless of political influence.

now a wood ... where are the so called democrats at in this process? name me one democrat that had any decision making authority throughout this whole ordeal. next time a wood ... please try to have a scintilla of sense before you run your mouth off and embarrass yourself.

It's to be expected. He's not the biggest criminal ever to have been pardoned by the White House.

Would I have done it if I were President? No, but if I were president and found out anyone on my staff was trying to out a CIA officer for political retribution, he or she would lose his or her job so fast there would be heads spinning. Then I'd ask the Attorney General what to figure what to charge him/her with and do it.

The identity of covert operatives is not something you play games with. I kind of wonder if as a former CIA director GHW Bush launched into GW Bush in private over this issue.

Just a buy-out, of course. But it's going to turn around & bite him, & if there any more bites, there won't be any of him left. I very much doubt the Democrats are going to forget about it, & believe it or not, there actually Republicans who don't agree with Bush. Wow. The security of this country was compromised because Wilson dared to say something Bush didn't like. THANK YOU george_fox49 for setting the record straight, now I dont have to.

It is another example of the Bush/Cheney administration's arrogance and disrespect for the law, the Constitution, and the American people.

This President, Vice President, and the entire administration believes they are above the law, and I guess the President just proved it. Perhaps Congress will be able to enforce the law and hold the administration accountable. That is the only way to restore the faith that America had in its justice system prior to the Bush administration's making a mockery of it.

It was overdue ; and Libby needs the pardon , too .
I do not get the fuss over Libby vs. 1999 when President Clinton pardoned the terrorists who terrorized NY with over 130 bombs , killing 33yr. old Frank T. Connor in 1975 .

It's the perfect time for him to do it. Congress works 120 days out of the year, and they won't be back until next week. Most of them will have forgotten about it by then. Besides, Libby's whole trial was the democrats going after whoever they could in the republican party, since they either couldn't, or just didn't have the balls, to go after the person who actually leaked the operative.

"If there's a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is," Bush told reporters at an impromptu news conference during a fund-raising stop in Chicago, Illinois. "If the person has violated law, that person will be taken care of.
George W Bush

I guess we now know what he meant by "taken care of", because Bush did his part of taking good care of a fellow member of the "good 'ol boys club".

I think it was time for this to be over. It was a purely political case that needed to be put out of its misery.

Yes rule of law was served. The President have the power to commute and pardon, just like the others before him.

Good thinking has become scarce.

I'm rationing it carefully.
