Each child will hit their milestones differently. I have a 13 month old son, he started taking a few steps at 12 months and just gradually he is completely walking on his own.

My 4-year-old took her first step when she was right around 10 months, but didn't start walking properly until she was just a little over a year old.

Our first son walked at 14 months, but we did not stress out because we knew that was within normal range.

Our second son walked at 17 months(!!!) and then took off running! (We had been joking that maybe he would still be pushing a chair upon entering kindergarten LOL!)

My niece is 6 1/2 months and pulling herself up to stand. So we figure she'll be walking at 8 or 9 months. (She's been crawling and sitting for a while now.)

Living in a foster home, having had about 30 babies, I'd say the average is about 1... they stand usually at 6(with help) and stand alone by about 10 months...

My son started walking at 11 mo. old. I remember it was April 1st (April Fools), and I wanted to call my husband and play a joke on him and tell him our son was walking. Little did I know that the plan was going to backfire and our son really did start walking. Just thought I'd share that with you.

My first, a girl, started at 9 months. My boys started later, but I don't really remember because I was running behind my daughter. LOL.
