The iphone can access the internet in two ways. The first way is through a Wi-Fi access signal. It can be done wirelessly in your home network setup or through Wi-Fi hotspots (like coffee shops, hotels, airports, restaurants etc). Wi-Fi is much more faster approximately close to DSL speeds.

The other option is the Cingular (A T&T) Edge Network. This is done through the cell phone network. You can use your cell phone to browse the internet and using this option you will receive a signal anywhere you go especially if your cell phone gets a constant signal. However using Cingular (A T&T) Edge Network is extremely slow because speeds only reach to 200 kilobits per second.

Your current cell phone plan 59.99 a month includes 450 rollover minutes with unlimited internet and email usages and 5,000 nights and weekends.

The question above is correct, but the internet on the iphone is still about as fast as normal internet on a computer.

all AT&T plans for the iPhone come with unlimited internet support, so you can browse from anywhere. WIFI just makes things faster.
