It would be a good idea, just for curiosity purposes, but I think we should receive one point just for a thumbs-up, as opposed to getting these points for a best answer. The number of thumbs-up doesn't necessarily dictate best answer, and in some cases, other answers had more thumbs up than the best answer.
Instead of losing points for a thumbs-down, I'd just rather go with no points awarded.

Let's not get too personal here. Part of the fun is you can say what, or do what you want ( thumbs up or down ), at this site. Don't take it too personal. The thumbs down could have come from someone in Timbuktu. In the scope of life is it that important?
