Should I show up with some radical ideas or opinions? I don't want to sit there.

Flaiva flav, I'm well aware of the fact that failure to show up for duty carries grave consequences with it. That is precisely why I asked for a means of getting out of it. If i intended to "not show up" I wouldn't have asked. Please answer my question or don't write. It takes real guts to attack another yahoo user from in front of your PC screen.

P.S.
I dont care at all that your relative, who was born in another country, served jury duty. And how does that make me lazy? I want to go to my 9 to 5, where I work hard.
I find it interesting that the first answerer who actually attempted to answer my question received 4 thumbs down and your answer, far and away the worst, received 3 thumbs up. I guess there are a lot of bufoons out there.
It is well known that displaying certain opinions about matters will lessent the chances of being selected out of a potential juror pool. I am asking which such opinions are most effective at deterring lawyers from selecting an individual juror candidate.
People like you make me want to quit the site, but for every fool out there, I get a few legitimate answers.
I see your profile indicates you do this "cause you are bored." That being the case, stick to answering questions about bras and jean sizes.
one more thing, don't call a man lazy until you have met him/her in person.

To make sure you don't get picked as a juror, just tell them you have a negative opinion of the judicial system and you favor things like Tort Reform. Also say you believe our country suffers from "too many lawsuits clogging up the courts"

I have been on three juries. I liked it. In most states your employer has to make up the differance in a day's wages. I was payed milege to and from home and court. Don't LIE that can land you in court. Just do your time and you wont be called for a long time. I've been called 4 times in 64 years. Just being called dosen't mean you will be selected.

Suck it up and do your job as a citizen. If you don't then you really can't complain about the decisions juries make.
Depending on the judge you draw many of the things people have suggested you say can get a contempt charge, unless you can make a really good case that you believe them and are not just trying to get out of jury duty.

It's not as easy as it used to be. With any exemption you plead, they will ask for some sort of documentation to back it up. It's just not worth going through all that hassle.
Do the right thing and serve your civic duty.

You don't get out of it. Just do your duty! Besides that, you get the day off from work, and you might get to hear an interesting case, and make an important decision about it

On the summons, there should be reasons listed to get you out of this jury duty, if your situation is listed , then you can get out of it, if not listed, you have to go. If you have to go, when called upon to answer a question regarding the case, just flat say, I do not want to be here, and I doubt you will be picked to serve on a jury.

Hey, even if you don't get picked, you still have to stay there for the rest of the day in case a judge needs a random handful of people.

Asked to be excused from juror duty if you have a legitimate excuse (not a lie). If you don't, then do your civic duty like the rest of us.

Take a vacation and don't come back, break your leg in thirteen places, go into a coma, die... Although they won't let you off jury duty for dying, so scratch that one.
