The 7th calvary was on the Mexican border for a long time and we did not have a immigration problem, they rode horse's and had bases up and down the border. Hey it worked before so why not now.

I sincerely hope not. It's generally not a good sign about the state of affairs when traditional border check points are insufficient and we need to station our armed forces along the border. Generally, that's a pretty big sign of a war and/or serious civil unrest.
