I have a desktop and a laptop, Ultimate is expensive... can I install it on both at the same time legally?

This rumor got started because Ultimate ships with two discs, one having the 32 bit version and one having the 64 bit version. Somehow the idea got out there that you could install the 32 bit version on one computer and the 64 bit version on another and this would be legal. It isn't however, when you purchase Ultimate you are still only purchasing one license, which means you can only run it on one computer. Sorry to disappoint.
