My brother-in-law claims to be an EMO rather than a GOTH, can someone please explaine to me what an Emo is , like what does it stand for. I'm 36 i dont know this sh!t

Emo means emotional. Basically it's people who always need attention so they always find some kind of problem with their lifes and makes sure everyone knows it so they will feel sorry for them. Not all emos are goths. Gothic people are basically just people who wear dark clothes, sometimes dark make up and listen to...in my opinion...scary music. They seem to be more shy, anti-social, and don't need all the attention that emo people think they need.

EMO (emotional) is when you feel the world is against you and your goal in life is to be better than everyone else. They cut themselves to make them cry. Goth is wearing black with dark thoughts instead of dark actions as emos.

Emo is where you're all depressed and hate the world and everything. Goth is just a person who wears black and fishnets all the time but they don't cut themselves. Goths also stick to themselves, but will socialize whereas Emos wail about their sob stories to anyone who will listen

Lol. '' Emo'' stands for emotional. It represents a certain kind of music and fashion.
The music, is often sad lyrics, songs that tell stories. Some band are '' good Charlotte'', '' Billy talent'', ''Fall out boy'' and '' Green day''....
The fashion is commonly.....tight jeans ( on males and females), long bangs combed over one side of the face, dyed black hair, some have a little strand of hair sticking out in the back....reminds me of a parakeet....skate shoes, thick rimmed smoked glasses.....You see a lot around....

it means emotionally unstable.
If he can turn around and tell you he is an emo, Then he has some issues. The reason they dress and act the way they do is to gain attention.
