well it's the chemical in your pool that keeps it clean...too much of it or you're expose to too much of it...i suggest goggles but that doesn't always help, what you can do is lessen the chlorine

Your eyes feel red and dry because of the chlorine in the pool water. Assuming that you are not exclusivly swimming in your pool, you may not have control over lessening the amount of chloring in the pool. This is going to sound odd, but trust me after 16 years of competitive swimming, I know it works. After you get out of the pool get a little bit of whole milk and put a few drops in your eyes. Just give it a try. If you don't want to try it, try using goggles.

Wear goggles. also ironically its probably not enough chlorine rather than too much. "Free" chlorine oxidises Nitrogen compounds to clear the organic junk in the water. The result is a range of compounds called Chloromines. ( monochloromine, dichloromine and finally trichloromine.) It is these which are very horrible to the eyes and skin and give that strong "chlorine" smell. Pure chlorine has little smell unless it is in such huge amounts that it is a chemical weapon such as mustard gas. chloromines are actually broken down by adding more "free" chlorine as a gas, a liquid (sodium hypochloride) or a solid ( calcium hypochlorite) Enjoy your swimming !

There are special eyedrops for swimmers. I don't remember the brand, sorry. My daughter could not live without them (teams, lifeguard, supervisor, teacher). The milk idea sounds interesting.
Don't forget your hair. Your eyes will turn red, but your hair is suffering, too. Always get it wet in the shower or it will suck up all the chemicals from the pool which will make it brittle & dry. Shampoo with swimmer's shampoo. But then you probably already knew this.

Because of the cloreen in the pool everyones eyes turn red while there in the pool after they have been in there for acertain amount of time. When i get out of the pool i go take a shower and wet my eyes with fresh cold water that clears them up.

may be the chlorine in the water dyed out ur eyes.If this is the case, next time don't get ur eyes wet or wear swimming goggles or just don't go swimming.I think u can wear goggles when diving because they were designed for swimming underwater.

There is too much chlorine in the pool. And next time wear goggles and don't open your eyes underwater. Just relax and drink water.

Your eyes are very sensitive to the chlorine in the pool. It can actually cause eye damage. With your sensitivity you should always wear goggles (except when diving, of course).
