I know iPhone is only gonna be using at&t for their network for the next two years but i was wondering if there could ever be any hack or any way to get iPhone on a different one...just wondering because at&t truly sucks.

Well, part of the problem with it being able to be used on different networks is that there is no way for you to get inside of it (unless you break it). It is like an iPod, where you can not enter or take out the battery, and the SIM card.

Another problem would be that the only way to activate the phone is through iTunes (not even going to an AT&T store). And it only goes through for AT&T.

And the last problem is that the iPhone will only work (even the iPod - which has nothing to do with the actual phone service) with AT&T iPhone data plans.

**To the guy that said you can replace the SIM card. I have a iPhone, and there is not slot on the top. It is totally inside the phone - I cannot see it or reach it. And to the other guy: I have no problems with my phone. Everything works for me!

Reasons why not to buy an iphone!

- No Video Conferencing
- Can't Send Pictures (MMS)
- No Push mail (forget syncing to exchange servers)
- No Voice Command
- Can't use Skype on Iphone for VOIP
- No Flash
- No Java
- No SDK (web 2.0 is not an SDK)
- No send via Bluetooth
- No 3rd party apps.
- Lacks an external memory storage slot!
- Cannot use your iTune songs as ringtones!
- NO VOICE DIALING
- NO 3G Internet access
- No Word/Excel Support (understandable)
- cannot be used as a modem
- doesn't support 3'rd party apps (Steve Jobs announced that this will not be allowed due to the threat to the reliability to the phone's operating system)
- Cannot be synced to Microsoft Outlook
- No Physical buttons or keyboard
- 8gb storage cannot be used as storage for files

If you still end up buying the iPhone, you'd be a perfect definition of the term: 'American'.

its not a hack. you just unlock the phone with a code from the manufacturer, though it can be a hassle to get it.

the problem is, things like visual voicemail will not work on these other networks, because it is network dependent.

it is possible to take out and replace the SIM card, it's in a slot on the top of the iPhone

I've heard you can unlock them, but some features are network dependant. But why not just wait a generation and get an iPhone that actually works. I works for a comp mfgr and we are getting hundreds of calls about poor connectivity and no synch. Apple products are usually pretty good in generation 2+ but they are worse than average in gen !
