It's all about how people are raised. People don't learn the important stuff in science until they are in high school, and by then they've had certain beliefs drilled into their head for 14 years. It's hard to change when you've believed something for that long.

I apoligize for saying this but, I feel sorry for you and your ignorance.
There's a multitude of proof of God's existance. Ask the archeologists, go to Jerusalem and see for yourself.
Go to Mt Sinai in Saudi Arabia, actually the arabs are keeping it off territory. But you can see it documented by the archeologists in the video called "The Search for the Real Mt Sinai" .....it reveals things that exactly add up to what is said in the Bible. It reveals specific things quoted in the Bible and found around and on the mountain and geographic area that can't be found anywhere else.
Do your homework first before you make your statements.
PS: God in the name of Jesus Christ answered my prayers in time of great need. He revealed to me answers I would've never realized, which probably saved my life, lest I was walking towards a nighmarish trap and didn't know it.
Other times he leads and guides my path from danger.
Another time when I was young, my mother and I were driving on a long drive to visit family. Coming off an exit to enter onto another road/highway, the car lost complete control, it had previously rained so the car was slipping and swaying hard. There were no side railings to protect us, if you go off the road, the car will go off the cliff. We almost went off the cliff, but there was just one sign saying 'Welcome to Albany' and nothing else in sight, our car hit the pole of that sign, sped around and stopped. There is no way I will believe that, that was a coincidence. That was God and from the prayers for us to have a safe journey. This is my testimony and proof.
Religion is very complicating though, God only answers prayers if he sees it fit to. Also, someone needs to be a follower, because Christ said I will turn my face on those that turn their face on me. But, none the less all people on earth whether a follower or not, still receive certain protection from God. And, one more thing my friend, God had given dominion over the earth to Adam and Eve, and when they sinned, they lost that power, thus it went into the hands of the 'serpent' the evil one. Therefore, we see misery and chaos in life. There is a certain legalisticness involved, since God has to keep his word, he can't always jump into every situation, and somethings we have to accept. By being educated in the Bible, you won't be as lost, you'll have knowledge which will give you power on life. One thing we can count on, is the eternal life, by accepting Christ, we will be given eternal life in his kingdom where misery does not exist.
Think about it, how many good years do we have in this life? I'll be generous and say 100. But my gosh, can you even fathom millions, billions, zillions of years, and still going never ending? If I were you, I would make an honest attempt to find the truth or faith, what do you have to lose anyway?

have not explored the universe far enough yet. once more proof gathered then that avenue will be closed. also there has been no solid explanation to how the universe came to be or how this planet was formed.how it is kept in place and all that jazz has been studied. but the rest is not known.once it is then belief will not dissappear even then. speaking of proof there are those who maintain since Earth has space travel and the universe is large that other lifeforms are bound to exist. ask yourself the question why people hope yet refuse to beleive in their existence. the distances are vast but with enough fuel gathered from different places and a contemplation of a design not so much like a flying saucer or perhaps no crewmembers aboard these crafts might this be reasonable.

I would be interested in seeing your "multitude of evidence". As far as I've learned, there is no proof for or against the existance of a divine being. If you are referring to the "big bang" and evolution, I don't see a contradiction. The material for the big bang had to come from somewhere as did the mechanism for evolution. I'm not taking either stance at the moment, just saying there is faith involved for whichever view you decide to take.
You can always choose the best answer yourself, you know.

I guess it's scary when, say something you've been brought up with all your life, is suddenly put into question, you know?
I myself am agnostic...I might not put a name to anything but I like to believe that there is something out there bigger then us, even if it's natural scientific forces.
Faith is a very strong force it seems, and not just faith in religions.
But I also know it's something that will never go away. Nor do I think it should.
People, should be able to believe what they want, any religion. or no religion. haha as long as they don't try to shove it down someone else's throat and it doesn't harm anyone, why not right? It should be about respect and tolerance.
I don't know...it's a tough subject.

What's wrong with believing a higher power? Some things cannot be seen or proven, they can only be felt. There was a time when astrology was considered a "science." Now astronomy and cosmology have taken over and astrology is a joke. There was a time when people swore the world was flat, and now we know it's round. Just because they can't prove it yet, doesn't mean it's not there. First you have to dream it, then believe it, then search for it, then find it.

What proof can anyone give you? When you think, when you feel, when you love someone, when you fear, when you get offended, when you dream? What does that? When you plan in your mind what you will say to the people who answer this question, what does that? That voice in your head that you think with, what proof can you give that that is real? Yet you know IT IS real... and that it is closer to you than the truth right under the tip of our noses. Anyway what do you want a Youtube link to a video of Jesus curing the sick?

No one has yet shown me irrefutable, all-encompasing, unquestionable, honest proof that completely denies the possibility of the existence of a divine being or God if you will.
I realize there are things that many people believe suggest there is no God, but there are things that many people believe suggest the existence of God.
Perhaps it is improper to answer a question with a question, but humor me for a moment. To know for sure that there is no God, wouldn't a person have to know all there is to know about the entire universe and beyond? (if there is a beyond)
Is there any such person in existence?

do you really in your heart of hearts believe that you were created by random chance, and a mere product of billions of years of evolving chemicals and cells?
Do you really believe that human beings have absolutley no connection to a Creator, hence having no soul/spirit to be delivered and set free? Do you really believe it all ends in this hell hole we call earth?
If you really don't believe in God, I want you to start praying to him and asking him to kill you dead. Go ahead, test it out. Planet earth is all there is, right? So if you do die, you have nothing to lose. not even your soul. Go ahead, see if it works.
email me.
Why is that after continued proof to the contrary, people continue to believe in theories categorized mentally as "truth"?

There is no proof that there is not a divine being.
There is plenty of proof that individual religious books are incorrect in many things, and that certain conceptions of a divine being are probably wrong.
Different things.
