We have to transform the denominators of both fractions to a common number by multiply the nominators and denominators of each fraction by the same value before we can simplify the above expression.
The L.C.M. (lowest common factor) of 9 & 27 is 27.
12 19/27 - 8*3/9*3
= 12 19/27 - 24/27
= 11 (19+27)/27 - 24/27
= 11 46/27 - 24/27
= 11 22/27
OR
12 19/27 - 8*3/9*3
= 12 19/27 - 24/27
=11(19+27)/27 - 24/27
= 11 46/27 - 24/27
= (11*27+46)/27 - 24/27
= 343/27 - 24/27
= 319/27
= 11 22/27
