Thats what I thought until my brother in law was a victim of identity theft. This thief opened 16 cards in my brother in laws name, emptied out his Chase bank acct, purchased mountains of jewelry etc, and was trying to put 20,000 on Am Ex to open one more phony Bank Acct. when they caught up to him, this just happened last week. So Beware!.

No, it's real. (Even though some of the stories in the press are far out, and some of the examples given by shredding machine makers are extreme, it doesn't change the basic truth: identity theft happens.)

No! You can shred all you want, but your identity is out there. Have you ever been to school? They have your social. What about a doctor or applied for a job? You guessed it, they have it too. How do you know that every single piece of mail sent to you gets to you? You don't. Someone can get your info that way. Trust me, there is much more to id theft then the average jo knows. How do I know? I have a lot of training!

Probably. Seriously though, If someone wants to steal my identity (and all the bills that go along with it) they can have it.
