Is there a way I can wrap my arch, heel & ankle up so I don't have to wear shoes all day?

What about the various arch supports at drug stores?

Which ones work the best & which are worthless?

I will NOT wear any shoe all day that "traps" my toes.

Are there good sandals out there with good support?

HELP!

It's not too bad yet & I don't want it to get too bad!

Oh boy...I have flat feet, and I too also hate wearing shoes,so I know exactly what you're talking about.

Here are some solutions:

- Tape your arches. To do this, place a strip of athletic tape around your heel that goes up the side of your foot on both sides until the end of your arch. Then, take strips of tape and tape your arch up...Start at one side of the foot and pull across so you feel the arch being pulled up.Do this for your entire arch. You don't need to go all around your foot,it just has to be high enough up on it to stay in place.
- For sandals,Birkenstocks are great shoes for arch support.Reefs,Rainbows, and Tevas are also pretty good.Even Crocs make sandals,or the regular ones are also good.
- In terms of arch supports...I've tried pretty much every type of drugstore brand, and the only ones that I found to be at all helpful were the Dr. Scholl's sport ones and Airplus insoles.Neither of these are too expensive, and they both help.

Sorry, but going barefot is Baaaaad for plantar fasciitis!!! One of the BEST things you can do is wear shoes with a very high arch ( not inset supports.) Cherokee Rockers come in many styles ( you can find them on the web...just search under Cherokee Rockers). you can also do exercises which really help...see websites below. One of the best is...everytime before you stand up...put your leg out in front of you and stretch the sole of your foot by pointing your toes up toward you head as far as possible and holding for several seconds. I don't know of any sandles that will help you. You can also go to a podiatrist...they deal with this all the time and are very good at treatment. Plantar fasciitis often comes and goes for years, then dissapears. I have been a nurse for over 30 yrs. and had plantr fasciitis at several different times...and knew many others with it...the key is to faithfully wear good, high arch shoes faithfuly and do the stretching exercises. If it gets BAD enough, you may consider the rocker type shoes. I wish you well!

I have used the Walk Fit orthotics and liked them. They do move my feet into a more normal orientation and relieve my backaches.

I have seen pads for the ball of the foot -- which I presume are for relief of plantar fasciiitis, that have a loop which apparently passes around one toe, and an adhesive to hold the pad to the bottom of the foot. I think you could wear them with sandals or open-toed shoes.

Birkenstock makes an extensive line of sandals for people with plantar fasciitis.

You need to go with what the doctor says. Fallen arches=hell.

If you get sandals that cover your foot (that is, are STRONG and have a back strap, and are NOT CROCS), you can usually use an arch support in them.
