My tank was recently infected with ich. I treated it but the treatment failed to work and i lost my fish :(. I did a 50% water change and raised the temp to over 90 after the death of the fish, how long can the ICH live in my tank without fish present?

Your help is greatly apprecaited!!

i raised the temp after the death of the fish. I have read that after the tank has no fish in it the ICH can only live for a short period of time. Do you know the length?

The exact amount of time is temperature dependent, but two weeks is generally considered a sufficient amount of time. This would especially be true if you keep the temperature elevated since there aren't fish in the tank at present.

Srry about your fish, When you put the water temperature over 90 degrees all of the fish in or gonna be in there is gonna die.

What product did you use?

A really good product is "Jungle tank buddies ich(ick) tablets," read the instructions carefully.

Hope this helps.

90 degrees is way too high; just raise it to 82-84. When you add the medication, you need to remove the carbon from the filter, or it will neutralize it.

I've used a medication called Coppersafe made by Mardel. As long as you catch the ick early enough, all the fish should make it. You add 1 teaspoon per 4 gallons of water. It lasts 30 days, so you only need to treat it once.
