Could it be an Impaction.

Certain species of lizards including iguanas have a narrow passage between the colon and the rectum. Certain cage substrate materials like sand, gravel, corn cob or even hay may become lodged in the gastrointestinal tract if these items are consumed. Radiographs may be needed for an accurate diagnosis and surgery may be warranted in severe cases. If abdominal (coelomic) surgery is to be performed, a ventral paramedian incision is recommended since some lizards (iguanas) have a large mid-ventral vein (some surgeons use the mid-ventral incision site without complication). Enterotomy and closures can be performed as in mammals. The peritoneum is extremely thin and is usually not closed separately. Skin sutures should stay in for a minimum of 4-6 weeks.

It is a rectal prolapse . It has got to be kept moist or the tissue will die . Apply sterial antibiotic ointment to the area until you can get him to a vet . Keep him on a moist towel untill it is repared .You do not want any kind of substrate to touch it .It may need to be surgicaly repaired . This usually happens when a reptile has had an impaction . Due to the straining to deficate . Both are very seriouse medical conditions and need immediate veterinary assistance .

Until you get to the vet it's important to keep the exposed tissue moist and undamaged, if that's still possible after 4 days. Coat it with an antibiotic ointment or glycerin (you can get glycerin at drug stores). You can use saline as well but avoid plain water if you can, it makes the tissue swell further.

i might believe the 1st answer, it does sound like your platy had a prolapsed beginning. it is excrutiatingly painful on your fish to bear and is probable taking plenty out of your platy. I doubt she'll heal all right yet once you prefer to pass via way of euthanesia, attempt clove oil, no longer beheading. a million cup of tank water + 5 drops clove oil = anesthetic + fish = snoozing fish + 5 extra drops clove oil + a million/2 cup vodka = death.

It's called rectal prolapse, and it's common in reptiles with vitamin deficiencies. If you haven't already taken the pet to the veterinarian, do so as soon as possible, this is not healthy.

quite possibly intestinal prolapse, the vet is your best bet.
The other possibility is the iggy is a male and that's one of two penises called "hemipenes"; if he can't pull it in the vet must give a hand to help him.

It sounds like a prolapsed penis. From the rest of your description, there is probably also infection involved. Don't Worry!!!! It's curable!
