I walked a long way alone on 9/11 to reach my apartment from where the F train left me (one of the only lines in NYC running). I walk home at night most Wednesday nights - which is about 1 mile.

Well, kinda. I spent a few days in the Ft. Morgan area of Gulf Shores, Alabama, and went to Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. There's a hiking trail that goes through the woods, out past a lagoon and across 1/4 mile's worth of sand dunes to the beach. It was HOT that day and I felt like I was crossing the Sahara.

I ran out of Gatorade on the trip back across them and it was even HOTTER.
