I want to get into politics, not running for anything but to know why I vote the way I do. The problem is when I turn on the news all I see is the negative things about the war and everything that Paris Hilton has done. I want news that is not right or left wing and isnt going for ratings. Any help?

Dude, I was where you were a year ago.
I was tired of the media spoon-feeding me garbage about which celebrity wore what to that shin-dig and how to deal with obesity.
And things will always be left-winged or right-winged, that's just the way things are.
The media doesn't report in black and white because it wants the viewer to decide for itself, thus raking in the ratings...
Of course, don't think that they don't know what they're doing; the news is like a series of fads to them (Admins of News stations). For example, they'll take a topic that is the most controversial at the moment and sway it completely left-sided or completely right-sided, depending on who's the majority at the time.
You seem pretty smart, hence the smart question, so I'm confident that you'll pick out the good news from the BS.

try some of the radio talk shows listen how they address an Idea and back it up with sound bites, and then turn on the network news and look at the Internet news clips and you deside where the spin is comming from.
