Sunlight from sun reaches earth surface, and the surface gets heated. we know this fact. As light hits any surface part of it is absorbed by surface and part is reflected.
Now, the part thats reflecting is blocked by carbon dioxide gas on the earths atmosphere. This gas acts as a shield to block the reflecting rays. So, ultimately the surface of earth receives lot of heat and heats up. this heating of earth surface is referred to global warming.
Now, the carbon dioxide gas, this is released in large quantities from industries and vehicles. this gas as told above acts as a shield.
effects of global warming can be anywhere from bad to worst. few of them are,
melting of polar ice caps due to surface temperature raise. Hurricanes , cyclones, climatic changes... this is a major issue right now and scientists are doing their best to controll it.... u can get a clear picture if u watch the movie "an inconvenient truth" by Al Gore...

Back in the 70s they were predicting the second Ice Age. Now Global warming. Do you know that Mt. Saint Helens put more hydrocarbons into the atmosphere than we could possibly emit from all cars globally? If the Earth can handle that it can handle the human race. Has science really studied our earths orbit of the sun? We are in an elliptical orbit that changes through the years. Do we have weather records dating back 3000 years? No but we do have speculation. The Earth is living and it uses it's water to regulate temperature. Believe what you wish but I believe we are on the up swing of being slightly closer to the sun then in the past. We will pull back again and possibly have an ice age. Save energy sure I'm all for that but thinking that having one less barbecue is going to effect Global warming is ludicrous.

The main cause is the greenhouse effect. When we drive our cars, we release CO2 (carbon dioxide) into the atmosphere. CO2 is also released in small amounts during cellular respiration (whenever you move a muscle), and plants get rid of CO2 when they make energy, but with plants being cut down in such huge numbers, the amount of CO2 is rapidly increasing.
The problem with this is that CO2 traps energy from the sun which would, under normal circumstances, be reflected back into space. This energy heats our atmosphere and is what we call global warming

co2 in the air is building up and causing global warming.97%of the co2 is from mother nature, volcanoes mostly,in the past 100 years volcanes are dramatically increasing.theres nothing we can do.mankind only adds about 2%of the co2 in the air.so don't buy it's mankind it's mother nature.don't get me wrong we should treat the earth with respect,be enviro.friendly.there some enviromentalist who are extreme, over crowded, yea right ,you can fit the worlds population in the city of miami EASILY.

mainly pollution.....the chlroflorocarbons damage the ozone and the ultravoilet rayz of sun can enter the atmosphere of the earth and makes it warm
the carbon wastes make kinda sheet around the earth, tht prevents the heat from getting out of the planet.which makes it warm.
tht r two of the prime reasonz
