Only an idiot would think that making abortion illegal would stop it. All it would do is make it harder for poor people to have one. The rich would do what they have always done, go to where it is legal. Our court has gone stupid by a 5-4 margin, but I think they still have a little common sense up there. BTW, you don't have to have an abortion. If someone else chooses to for reasons of their own, it is none of your business.

'The Court' is not conservative... although most of the sitting justices were appointed because they supposedly passed some litmus test indicating they would vote conservative, they have proven anything but... the only concession being late term abortions. Roe vs. Wade will never be overturned, too many activist judges with lifetime appointments would countermand any voting otherwise by the people, the same way they have immigration, etc. It would be nice if abortion had not become just another form of birth control, and people would take more resposibility for their actions... and now with the morning after pill, who needs a condom?

In what way would you challenge it?
The government doesn't own our bodies...certainly doesn't own a woman's womb. The government can't FORCE a woman to give birth....
How would you even start?
Actually, I always thought that for every woman who makes the decision to abort, the male that impregnated her should be sterilized..... How does that sit with ya?
He would never again be able to impregnate another woman. Look at all the abortions that could be prevented if the male population of irresponsible idiots were unable to make a baby.....
It would improve the gene pool, too.
Roe v Wade is a fact of life....get over it and move on to something that you can acutally have an opinion on - one that counts, anyway...Roe v Wade and the abortion issue isn't one of them.

Have you got a way to have standing? You must have a case or controversy to get the case in front of the S. Court.
Watch the states trying to limit abortions. That's where the case will come from.
When CJ Roberts was in the hearings, Roe was settled law. That is rather meaningless if the Court chooses to hear an attack on Roe.

As Cheif Justice Roberts sid in his confirmation hearings, Roe is "settled law." Its not going to be reversed--and the religious right might as well get used to that.
What they CAN do--if they start making arguements based on law and not religion--is rein in late term abortions. There's nothing in Roe to preclude that--a point maybe 1 in a hundred "pro-life" people are aware of. The Roe decision only applies to 12st trimester--the further liberalization came as a result of other decisions.
But--that's unlikely to happen either. Unfortunately, as the South Dakota efforts at a bill banning virtually all abortions shows, the religious right are far more interested in making a show than in actually addressing the legal issues--and any such effort is going to be tossed by the Court--conservative or not.

If Roe v Wade is over turned by the supreme court, it will be just returned to the states, and each state will have to decide it's fate. Abortion has been taken for granted by most middle class women, if it is overturned and returned to the states, you will see the wrath of many women

No. I strongly support Roe v. Wade. a woman should have complete control over her fertility and pregnancy which also includes protection from a forced abortion. It's about individual liberty, reproductive rights and reproductive freedom, the very bedrock of America and what separated us from iron-fist anti-freedom Europe. Having a child is a personal choice about a woman's own body and personal health, and that both parents' and children's lives are better when the government allows abortions to women. Abortion is a necessary option which stats have shown improves overall socia-economically. Moreover, legalized abortion will prevent women from going to desperate lengths to achieve illegal abortion, while simultaneously assuring that a larger percentage of the children born are wanted by their parents. The child's "life" is already neglected and dead filled with endless negative role models by irresponsible "parents". Abortion should be safe, legal and rare.

Even if Roe was overturned, the experience in South Dakota last November shows that most states would keep abortion safe and legal.
I think overturning Roe might be a good think because it would allow the abortion issue to be solved through the legislative process. The pro-life movement would not be able to whine about judicial activism if the people voted for abortion in a referendum or a legislature authorized it.

You want more control? The self righteous, self centered, holier than thou attitudes have already created misery and mayhem so now they want to tell everyone how to live their lives. The conservative superstitious savages should be ashamed to represent themselves as human beings. The rapture rights, the Southeastern US Hillbilly Taliban, and the rest of organized religion would attempt to enfold the world with their blackhearted antediluvian concepts that defies the very laws they claim so dear. Hypocrites and the college of fools will stop at nothing to achieve their dominant agendas.
