The reason why prostitution is illegal in many juristictions is because of the harm it causes women by objectifying them as a comodity to be used, paid for, and them discarded. This is the main harm of prostitution! The secondary harms of transmission of STD, supporting pimps who further victimize the prostitute, breakdown of marriage, and degrading the act of sex into a purely physical and meaningless act, or the introduction of drugs and organized crime into neighbourhoods - are simply by-products of the overarching harm: changing the person of a woman into an object that can be purchased.

Depends on where you are.. Prostitution is legal in Nevada Excluding Clark County (including Las Vegas) and Washoe County (including Carson City and Reno)..
There are other places around the world where prostitution is legal as well.. Amsterdam comes to mind..
In places where prostitution is legal and places such as The Bunny Ranch and The Mustang Ranch operate the ladies are regularly tested for disease and have regular classes on safe sex practices..
Legalizing prostitution enables government to impose and enforce regulations, which creates a much safer environment for the ladies as well as their clients..

It should definitely be legal, particularly so that it keeps the criminal element away and controls any possible health issues. Illegal prostitution is just silly, and it will be there whether it is legal or illegal.

Its not illegal where I'm from, it was legalised a few years back now.
I guess it's illegal because of societys views on sex rather than it actually been destructive. Although an argument could be made that it spreads disease, however I think legalising prostitution could create an enviroment where prostitues could work in safer conditions.

ILLEGAL... period.
Your body is NOT "yours" to do with as you will... you cannot commit suicide, you cannot throw yourself into traffic, etc.
According to our Christian faith, your body is the "temple" of the Lord, so WHY would you sell it... violate it... disrespect it? Prostitution does enough harm. Even where it is legal, like Holland. I had a friend there who had "patronized" the prostitutes. He had to take an AIDS test to be sure he hadn't contracted it ... even from the LEGAL prostitutes.

Illegal! The moral decline of the country is so horrendous that almost nothing is shocking anymore. I want to look at a woman without only thinking of her sexually. I like being able to appreciate women as human beings with talents and personalities instead of a collection of body parts and body types. I want to know one woman completely instead of just gratifying myself on the random woman for a few moments of easy pleasure.
I know I don't speak for everyone, but that is my answer and I am sticking to it.

anyway, when men can't get any because they are old or ugly, and they are kind and respectful and payin enough for it, then maybe its sort of ok
yet, diseases and messing up cahnces at good solid real lasting loving relationships makes it NOT a good thing, though it might seem harmless it isn't.
because of diseases, and lasting multigenerational problems
if you realized its gonna mess up your kids chances of having any happy lasting loving relationships, and yours also, would you do it? how much money is that worth? Like very good man who tries to get with you and make your life perfect will be thwarted because of it, then is it worth it? Hell for him, hell for you, hell for your kids, just don't do it.

If you need to pay for action in this day and age, you need to go out and buy the biggest handgun you can find, then buy some nasy hollow points, and blow your head off.
Sex is extremely easy to get these days.
