It really depends.
Things it depends on:
How many people are actually working on the filming and editting processes.
How long it takes the scriptwriter(s) to finish and edit the script each time it needs adjusting.
How long or many times they want to trial show it to a few hundred people and then either re-edit it or reshoot scenes in order to increase "the numbers."(from the score cards they hand out in the trial audience)
How much special effects are needed in movie. Post processing effects take time to complete.
How many special/elaborate sets/scenery have to be constructed.
----------------------------------
Hollywood is a movie making machine, so if it doesn't require special things since it is just a generic comedy they can probably churn out the filming of it in about a month's time.

Movies and television shows, although very similar, have little differences that add up.
For example, a TV show usually takes anywhere from 5-10 days for JUST principal photography. They work at a much faster pace than movies do. Principal photography on a movie averages out to several weeks, as opposed to just a few days for a TV show.
Pre- and post-production on a movie is also much, much longer than a TV show for several reasons. For one, a TV show is almost always reusing the same sets week after week with little alteration, whereas a movie has to design and construct new sets. New sets for a TV show are generally built on modular frames - look closely and you'll often see the same room shapes and props used again and again in different configurations - to again cut down on time and money spent designing and building new sets.
Because TV photography is done at a faster pace, less footage is shot per scene (that is, the actors don't go through the scene again and again and again until they get it right - often, they just do a scene a few times and settle for whatever comes out best) editing and post-production takes less time, as well. It generally takes them a month or two to crank out an episode of a TV show. While principal photography is happening for Episode 8, pre-production is being completed for Episode 9, and then principal photography for Episode 9 is done while post-production is completed on Episode 8 and so on and so forth.
But movies with larger crews, bigger budgets and generally more expansive stories, get to take their time and aim for a set release date. Because they have to deal with theatre ticket sales one time instead of a TV show, which has to sustain itself over a season, movies have more time to get its one shot right.
It is possible to crank out a movie in a few months, sure. It depends on the movie. A small romantic comedy where the main locations are, say, a diner in a small town is going to be made cheaper and quicker than a superhero movie that involves many locations, stunts, and expensive special effects work.

The average movie films for several months. Smaller films on a low budget can finish up a lot sooner, and others stretch out to a year. Of course, the actual filming time doesn't include pre-production work such as casting, or post-production work such as editing and adding special effects. All of that adds to the time it takes to get the movie into theatres (which is usually less than a year from the time filming begins).

I think it mostly depends on the budget. Lots of money, they can take longer to put out a very good product. Not so much money, things are hurried along.
