I am 23 years old and wanna learn to play soccer. Have I passed the age where I cannot develop skills good enough to play in some little weekend league? What tips can you guys and girls give me that would help me on this quest besides "practice?" Any sources or websites I can visit to find pick up games? Thanks in advance.

Nobody is ever too old to learn to do anything. Hell, you're only 23. There is a keeper in MLS who didn't start playing until he was 20 (forgive me all of you who will dispute this because I cannot come up with his name or team, I just happened to catch the comment while flipping through the other day). Anyway, Id say it didn't turn out so badly for him. Don't listen to the guys who say that you can't be as good as Pele or Zidane. I'm not saying you will be, but you could discover a natural gift for it.

To learn, watch as much as you can. Buy a ball, find a park and go kick around. Maybe you'll get a pickup game dropped on your lap. Like one of the other answers said, it really is all about fun.

Well mate you are never too old to have a bit of fun. I have played football (soccer) ever since I could walk, I am now 53 and still play but not competitively any more. You will probably never be a Pele but find a recreational league and have some fun, and yes practice get to feel comfortable with the ball. It really is the greatest sport on earth so be a part of it. I would also advise you to watch as much football as you can, live and on T.V. Good luck mate.

I dont think there is any reason why you can't learn to play. Playing soccer is all about enjoying yourself and getting in shape, so i dont believe you are to old to do that.

of course dont have dreams of playing at old trafford in this lifetime.

If you have any friends that would be willing to play a scrimmage that is always a fun and noncompetitive way to get started. Otherwise Ymca or (if you have one) Goodsports (which is just a sports complex essentially) are good places to look,

you could play with your family that would be the best way I could think of. You should also try to watch soccer on tv, the best way to learn is from guys who play 6 hours a day. Don't watch women play, not to be sexist, but because the pace is much slower and a lot of times the decision making is very poor. Definately get familiar with the ball by dribbling, juggling and shooting/ hitting long balls.

How come if you don't know how to play football you can give answers about it? And by the answer you gave, it is evident you don't know how to play or anything. Yes, you are too old to learn to play, but that doesn't stop your country men and they do play just the same.
