Ok lets wrap this up first of all lets look at the scenario, Scott Gomez only got 13 goals and 60 points last season and your telling me you would pay this guy 10 million next season, even if the rangers a re a rich team that is still giving him too much credit wouldn't you agree, and now Briere where to start he's getting the same next season, but overpaid i would say just a tad but i wouldn't say it was a steal, but he's not the type of player who deserves that kind of money, i mean afterall he did play with the second best team and the highest scoring team last season right?....right. it just goes to show you they don't care about thockey they care only about the paper, if they truely loved hockey they would of signed deals similar to Jarome Iginla or Joe Thornton. They are only getting 7 million next season, however if Scott Gomez can get 10 million a season than surely Iginla or Lecavalier ,or Thornton, or Heatley could demand 15 million a seaon deals right? what do you think?

I agree Gomez is a getting a bit overpaid, but Briere was a great pick up for the Flyers, he's worth it.

yes Gomez is overpaid, I hope he becomes another Bobby Holik for the Rangers.

I think the new CBA only allow a team to commit 20% of salary cap to 1 player so 15 million is not possible. But Thornton just sign an extension for 21.6 million for 3 more years so works out to 7.2 million a year. Again Gomez is overpaid.

Briere is better but he struggles so much in the playoffs that Lindy Ruff was benching him for a couple of games, Briere is a bit overpaid as well.

You have to remember it isn't 10 million every season. Gomez only counts 7.1 million against the cap which I still think is overpaid. Briere only counts 6.5 million against the cap so he really isn't over paid.

Of course people like Thortnon could get 1 15 million season but the rest of his contract could end with all 6 millions.

Briere isnt getting 10 mil every year...his last 2 years are only 2 million

and i think it says something when you are the top scorere on the second best team in scoring...so why would that be underpaying him. Plus briere has an urge to win...he only averages 6.05 million per year on this contract.

and people who say athletes are overpaid in general...they work harder than most people on earth...of course they earn it...you wake up at 6 in the morning and go to the office...they work up at 6 in the morning and go to the gym and get pounded everyday...so stop complainin just because they are doing what they love...because they have worked extra hard to get there

Briere no

Gomez no, he had a down season on a team whose focus is defense. He will be in a lot more offensive rich situation and i have to think the jagr drury gomez should be up toward the high end if not career numbers.

Ya Gomez was definatly overpaid. I would of gave Drury his amount instead. Briere was slightly overpaid. 52mil was much maybe 45mill would of been enough. I'm curious to see what Crosby or Ovechkin might get in a couple of years. Salary cap will bust.

Way. Over. Paid. Gomez is by no means worth that much. You knew Briere would get something like that, but hes not worth that much either.

No player is worth 10 million. 15 is rediculous.

No Gomez will actually be playing for a team that scores goals and not a team that plays defense the entire game

If I ruled the world, the players would earn money based on their previous years performance. No guaranteed money, no multi-year contracts. I may say that no player in any sport is worth $1,000,000 a year but even that is exorbitant. Hell, it ain't like they've cured cancer.

But, yes, they are overpaid.

I think Gomez is a SUPER amazing player but at the same time is a dirty rotton traitor. As much as i love Gomez, I love the Devils more and will remain loyal to the team. Besides, we still have Brian Gionta (#14) and Zach Parise (#9) <3 <3

GO DEVILS! :)
