The powerful always protect the powerful. It's not a republican thing or a democrat thing or any other thing.

He would have also pardoned Bill Clinton. Power is a strange thing.

President Bush commuted his 30 months prison term. Libby still has the $250,000 fine and 2 years probation. It isn't the same thing as giving him a pardon (Like Slick Willy did at midnight before he left the White House). Scapegoat just isn't appropriate here because the President had nothing to do with Libby's investigation over a non-crime. Plame was never a covert agent and Armitage was the source of the leak to Novak (and it was clear that it was not intentional).

Ask Clinton: (a) Clinton was guilty of the same crime, (b) Clinton pardoned people guilty of far worse.

lady j, Libby is NOT the highest level Executive Branch Official Convicted (Cisneros)
Henry Cisneros is actually held a position in the Executive Branch much higher that the position that was held by Scooter Libby. Henry Cisneros was the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Appointed by Bill Clinton. In 1997, because of investigations against him that began in 1995, Cisneros resigned his position. In December of 1997 Cisneros was indicted on 18 counts of conspiracy, giving false statements and obstruction of justice. In September of 1999, facing the reality that he would be convicted and sent to jail, Cisneros negotiated a plea agreement...

Hmmm, I guess it would be for the same reason Bill Clinton did it. He is the President and he can do these things. Bill unleashed far worse back on the streets and we survived it fine.
There are serious things to be concerned about in this country. Pres. Bush is not running and cannot run again. Consume your energy on things that are true threats.
You gain nothing bashing a lame duck president.

Like whoever broke into Sears tool warehouse and stole the entire years production of left handed screwdrivers. Every southpaw in the states is impacted by that one. Yea, another minority unjustly punished by low life lefty haters.... I can't stand it. I am going to donate my entire stock of left handed screwdrivers to something, just give me a minute, ummm, let see Scooter has all the cash he needs, whooo could it be, hmmmm

Libby should have received a full pardon. The "perjury" was Plame's & Wilson's. Fitzfong -- er, Fitzgerald -- should be investigated for prosecutorial misconduct.
