The other night I looked up in the sky and saw what I thought was Venus. But it was a little strange. It was twilight and I could not see anyother stars or planets, yet. When I drove to the other side of town, it had a different shape.

It stayed in the same place for a while, was not a satellite, or a jet plane. Come on now I am not stupid. Some one give me a real answer!

ISS has an altitude of around 320 KM and takes about 92 minutes to orbit the earth. when it is visible it usually takes a few minutes to travel the sky

You also need to understand that it quite possibly could be Venus. But the atmosphere of earth can distort it's shape and size, especially near sunrise/sunset

if you do want to see the ISS or man made satellites I suggest using Heavens above

could be Venus or another planet. was it moving across the sky at a fast rate? if so, you could have seen the space station, which just looks like a really bright star moving very quickly across the sky

Hi. Probably not. The ISS moves fast enough that you would have noticed. If you want to check for yourself there is a free program called Orbitron that lets you go back to an earlier time and see what was visible. http://www.stoff.pl/

Might have been an airforce plane or reflection of gas in the sky.

Where do you live and what time did you see it? That would help a lot.
