The independent investigation did not turn up violations of FISA law, but did uncover perjury committed to obstruct justice in discovering who revealed state secrets to punish whistleblowers.

Is forgiving Libby better or worse than a $60 million Whitewater investigation leading to impeachment proceedings over a dress stain?

Whitewater ended up with a dress stain because despite all the splashing, there were never any real fish there. Just the little minnow. The Plame pond, however, was filled with bloated carp but all that ended up in the net was Scooter. The giant Rove carp still lurks. Which was worse?

Kikidi's--Whitewater was about an investment Hillary made into some real estate venture, in which she lost $20,000 and neglected to file the loss on her income taxes.

I like to contrast Whitewater with Harken Energy--a corporation on which George W. Bush sat as a member of the board of directors. When the board made a decision that was about to cause the company's stock value to tank, Bush sold--profitting $800,000.

Now that's "insider trading." Hillary had no insider position in Whitewater. Yet $60,000,000 of the public treasury was squandered on an extensive fishing expedition which resulted in impeachment proceedings. "High crimes or treason."

President Bush refuses to allow staff members to testify concerning the firing of US attorneys for political purposes so he can avoid suborning perjury, and the humiliation of impeachment for a trumped up cause.

"High crimes or treason." Indeed. Outing covert agents, putting lives at risk, or lying about oral sex? What is treason?

Didn't the guys at Enron go to jail for making false statements about money and finances (vs. one like that involving Plame which put lives at risk??)
I never thought the investigation over Monica Lewinsky was worthy of the press it got. Frankly, if I am not sleeping w/ the president, I really don't care who he is sleeping w/ and that is really between he and his wife.
Whitewater as I recall was about something to do with the internal travel office and not much was at the base of that.
What really annoys me about the Plame deal is, God forbid the shoe had been on the other foot and some democrat had outed a member of the president's secret service or a spy in Iraq or Iran, that person would have been hanged as a traitor but Libby and company seem to get special treatment. Doesn't seem very fair to me that working people support these rich cats and then they walk when they get caught. Good question though.

two different issues, whitewater and monica. same target, billy clinton. i think investigation was indeed justified in regards to whitewater. and people should mind their own business in regards to the monica thing. nothing to do with federal law.

as for commuting Libby's sentence, who didn't see that coming? he deserved it, he did what he was told and kept his mouth shut. we all know it was the Dick that wanted to slap valerie's hubby. the Dick was the one who should have stood trial; for treason. was it right and proper? nothing regarding this administration is right or proper.
