Way back in high school, I was always the one out of all of my friends that never wanted kids...here I am, going on 31 with 2 wonderful boys.
My oldest is 11, and he came as a surprise as I was on the Pill when I got pregnant. It wasn't what we wanted, but made the decision to keep the baby and I'm so thankful every day that we did.
My youngest is two and he was also a surprise. If I had to do it all over, sometimes I think I would have liked to have been able to plan for having kids. But then again, if I had planned, I might not of had them either...so I guess on a broader scope, God had other plans in mind for me.
I think its easy to say you don't want kids if you've never been faced with being pregnant unexpectedly. Some people can have abortions, and some can put the baby up for adoption and I support all choices when it comes to an unwanted pregnancy...but still some women who get pregnant unexpectedly, find that a child is something they didn't even know they wanted until they became pregnant, which is what happened to me. I think a lot of women change their minds once they aren't on the outside looking in anymore...

No and No. It is perfectly okay if you don't want children. It is a huge, lifelong responsibility that every person should seriously consider before even thinking about procreating. The strains financially, are enough to cause tension in relationships. The physical demands, lack of sleep, etc... are enough to make a person think twice. Legal liability is another issue. Also, if you care about the toll it takes on the environment and available resources it is certainly the right choice to not have children. More importantly though is what you think is right for you and any child you choose to bring into this world. Are you emotionally, financially, and intellectually equipped to take on the challenge of raising a child in today's society?

You're not the only one because I don't want them either. Not only do they make your life miserable and waste your money, but they give you nothing in return. All you do is spend and spend on this investment and when they grow up they forget about you and your investment turns into nothing!
Also who wants to change diapers or endure screaming and crying. I think you are completely normal for not wanting kids and more people should be just like you and the world would turn out to be much better!

It could just be the age you are. I never wanted kids until I was 26 and with the person I knew I would marry. I wanted to see what kind of people we would make and I wanted to be a family. If you find that you really don't want kids, then please take all the precautions not to. There are to many unwanted and mistreated children in the world.

I used to agree with you. With a passion. I've traveled this world and it's a scary mean place. Not a very nice place for a child. But I met and fell in love with a girl who changed all of that. Now I want to have a family with her. I hope you meet someone who changes your point of view one day to. I don't blame you one bit for not wanting children. You are the only one who knows if you should be a mom or not.

Nothing wrong with that at all. I have one child now (adopted) but until I was thirty I didn't want kids at all. Couldn't stand them, all weird and smelly like. I met my now husband and wanted to have kids with him. My sister never had a kid and seems content to just borrow mine occasionally. I can see where some people are just fine with no kids. It's a path I could have taken easily.

Well, I'm not too good with kids and they might be a bit of a hassle and piss me off sometimes, but I think I'll be lonely if I never have any when I grow up. I'll feel like I'm missing out on an important part of life.

NO!!!!!!! You are perfectly normal.
I never have and never will want kids. A little bit of it is because I know I will be just like my mom. No matter how hard I try and I know it unfortunately will happen. Another reason is that I'm almost 35 and I'm still too immature to have kids. he he

I have several friends who don't want kids. There is nothing wrong with that.
I would rather you not have kids than do it for all the wrong reasons. I'm proud of you that you know your own mind!
