What do you think about a 'Languages' category where people could ask how to say specific phrases in another language ?

Example : An English speaking person might want to know how to say ... In Spanish , how do you say " What are some of the best restaurants around " . And the system could automatically attach a beginning phrase to alert Spanish speaking people. . . . a phrase like " Como se dice...." - Translated "How Do You Say.. .... " . As soon as a Spanish speaking person saw the words 'Como se dice' , they'd know it was someone asking for their help . Similar starting phrases could be available for all other languages , thus keeping this particular section or format fluid with many languages and learning opportunities for all .

What Do You Folks Think ? Did I explain it enough , or do you need more ?

It would be an amazingly fun forum, and extremely useful. People already ask for translation services, but I have noticed that a lot of the time their questions go unanswered, and I know it's not because someone on here doesn't speak Tagalog or Swahili, it's just because the people that do aren't finding the questions where they could help people out. With the system you described, it sounds like it would be a lot easier for people to hook up with those who can actually answer their questions.

(And you explained it just fine. I get what you're saying.)

Somehow I think this would never happen, even though it's a great idea. This idea would be taking business away from companies who get paid for these types of services. I'd love nothing more than to not have to pay for translation services if needed, but I think somehow politics will prevent one company from screwing another over- some silent code of honor, if you will.

Earnest,
We don't always agree with one another, but this time, you have come up with a great idea. I am with you on this one and it is a sight that I think we could all use every now and then.

I think you did a great job in explaining what you wanted to say and I am with you all the way.

Another time when we see something eye to eye......,.

in theory it could work but what if they person does not have the language built in their computer. It could work if the language has the same letters and a way to pronounce it by stretching out the word. However if the language is in like Mandrian where their is no way it can translate it.

Right because they delete our questions/answers for speaking other languages. That's discrimination!

I support the formation of this category.

Now someone just needs to go over to the Help & Suggestion Forum and recommend this category.
