Orange oil is pretty good for keeping wood tables clean, but real wood doesn't mix well with modern society. Ash trays will leave white scars in the table, a cool drink will leave a dark stain on the table. Hot food will do the same thing as an ash tray... Glass tops are much easier to maintain. You won't have to chase your guests off with a wash rag and a coaster every time they try to drink something, and you can just wipe off the water stains and dust easy as anything. Sure, it looks a little strange, but so do coasters.
