How old are you? there really isn't any way - if you are underage - to convince your parents to let you stretch your ear. If you do it, it will be very obvious to them. I am sure they will stop you before you leave the spacers in long enough to stretch your ear.

No, they do not go back once they are stretched.

hah dude I had the same problem, and I still do, but my mom compromised to let me go to a 12.. (I still wanna go to a 10 or 8).. anyways, what I did was some research and found that normally if you only go down to a size 0 or 00 (eaither one, I can't remeber) your ear would close to normal (or atleast a size 16). So maybe printing out info about gauging your ears could help them relize what you're doing and why. My mom hates the idea of me gauging, she doesn't understand it.... or me... but talking to her made it better (even though she still hates what I'm doing, but I'm still young so you think I care? lol)... she thinks I wont get a job when I'm older, I keep telling her I can take them out and let them go back.. you should be fine as long as you do it gradually and make sure your ears are clean, and not bleeding when you put new plugs im etc...

I have never heard of stretching the ear.
But your parents understand that fads come and go. If everyone followed every fad that came along we would be a strange civilization..
Not all fads are good for our wellbeing or our health.
Your parents obviously love and care for you or they would allow you to do whatever you wanted{ bet you didn't know that did you?}
Listen to what they are telling you, they care for you. And don't follow every new fad that comes along.
Be an individual, not one of the crowd.

It's not personal---they just want you to be married one day, and have children, and a "stretched ear" may seriously limit the number of eligible girls/women who want to date and marry you.
Think about who you want to be with 10 years from now. Is that girl/woman going to be thrilled by stretched ears?

Do you really need your parents permission? Just do it. Once you have, there's nothing they can do about it.
