i know that either voldemort or harry has to die but do you think that jkr would just kill harry to end it, orvoldemort would die and everyone lives happily ever after?

JK Rowling has said in interview's that with the last book two major characters die that she didn't originally plan but that one that she had planed to kill gets a reprieve.

From this information and the prophecy people are assuming that harry/Voldemort or both will die.

Guess we'll know for sure in another 2 & 1/2 weeks

Well, with Harry and Voldemort, the idea that one of them has to die comes from "Order of the Phoenix" when Dumbledore explains to Harry the prophecy ("And either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives") . Then you have Rowling's comments about pardoning someone and killing a couple others.

It's stated in one of the books that Harry & Voldemort cannot exist together and that one is destined to kill the other.

Seeing as how the entire series is from Harry's point of view, how would it end if he died? Who would take the place of narrating? Voldemort has to die to officially end the series I think.

There's the prophecy from the fifth book, plus you can check out JK Rowling's website, I think it's jkrowling.com

She confirms or denies rumors occasionally on there, and I believe she confirmed that several people were going to have to die in the story.

it was the prophese. and the only reason it has to be so is because they hold store by it. If they would go on and live their lives and ignore the prophese... well then they would be good. But mortal enemy's and all.. yeah.

But, I think Harry would live. Universal Studios wouldn't invest milions of dollars in a theme park based on a series where the hero dies.

Order of the Phoenix when the prophecy is revealed that neither can live while the other survives.

OR EVERYONE

everyone just assumed since she has clearly stated (but probably not meant) that that is the last book of the series
