Maddux is without question. He could be the most dominant pitcher of the last 20-30 years. His ability to change speeds get the grounder when needed and fool hitters relentlessly are his ticket to greatness and the hall of fame. All of them are great pitchers but Maddux could be one of the best pitchers of all time when you really look at all his numbers. He had seventeen years in a row where he had at least 15 wins not many guys can say that. He is among the most elite in strikeouts to walks and innings pitched. Oh yeah and those 16 gold gloves.

You answered your own question - it's Maddux easily.

Four Cy Young awards, 340 wins, 16 Gold Gloves, and a period from 1992-1998 that ranks among the greatest peak years ever put together. In 1994, he had a 1.56 ERA when the league average was 4.26, and he followed that up with a 1.63 ERA vs. a league average of 4.23. That's a run of dominance that's tough to beat.

Smoltz and Glavine will likely both end up in the Hall of Fame, but neither belongs in an argument about the greatest pitchers of the past 50 years. Of the three, only Maddux can stake his claim to be among the elite of the past half-century.

All three of them will be in the hall of fame. Maddux won his 300th acouple of years ago, Glavine should do it this year easily and Smoltz is the only pitcher with 200 wins & 200 saves. But i have to go with "The Proffessor" Greg Maddux.

I agree, Maddux pitches like an artist, working the corners, changing speeds, keeping the batter guessing. A true master.

I'd have to say a three way tie, all of them are future hall of famers and all may go in at the same time which would be pretty neat, All three changed the way they pitched with there age, Of course some Human Groth Hormone to help healin time may have helped to, Got to love that **** undetectable by tests and when used the right way dosnt have to show signs of tremendous growth but helps increase recovery time but thats a whole nother issue

John Smoltz. He is a pr oven starter and a safe closer. He has proved that he can cover all aspects of the game. He doesn't complain and is a good team player. Don't get me wrong though, they are all very good.
