I'd rather earn it than simply pay for it.

We will always have feelings of discontentment, we have been from the beginning of time. When humans were cave people, there was discontentment when there was a threat to survival, and though we live in a time and place where we are comfortable, and have the ability to try buying more contentment, we can never change what is around us. Assuming that we can, is buying in to the idea that someone or something can protect us from feeling not content, we are forever striving for that feeling. People need not wonder why they are not content at times, or think that there are people who are always content, because to think so will only just lead to discontent. What I mean is, it is perfectly OK to not feel content with life, life will never be perfect for anybody. If someone is willing to try buying content, or trusts a person who offers them content, then they are hurting themselves and society. The world is not about each individual and their contentment, it's about working together as a whole. The individual "content" is what separates us, and leads to hate and fear. If we see ourselves as deserving individual contentment, we put ourselves in the position to be manipulated into fear.

I am already content except that I would like to go on a vacation once in a while.
Contentment
How can you put a price on a feeling?
It is something that comes from within.
You become content from how you view that which is around you and inside of you and your happiness with it.
I wouldn't pay anything for a feeling, I'd just feel it.

I wouldn't be willing to pay anythign for a life of contentment. I think the only way to be truly content is to have arrived there in your own time, in your own way. To have a whole life of anything defeats the purpose of the feeling. It follows the old mindset of "You can't feel pain if pain is all you've ever felt" and "without darkness there is no light, without light there is no darkness."

nothing...
what would contentment mean to you if you were always content... it wouldn't feel like anything.. it would be normal... it wouldn't even be special.
you need sorrow to feel how great contentment is
its duality.
otherwise being content would be pretty unexciting
it's the imperfections in life that make it perfect.

Because I have put all of my trust in Jesus Christ, I can be content in any circumstance because I know it His will for me, He loves me, and always does what is best for me even though I might not understand His ways, I trust.

Read, study hard, challenge myself, work on my disciplinces, be critical yet allowing time to have its perfect work. Learning lessons from the good and the bad and constant refinement. Prayer and meditation and seeking wisdom from others who have acheive it on some level and disguarding that which is not righteous.
