I was just wanting your opinion, because San Diego has just as much gang activity in it's county as Los Angeles.

In many parts of San Diego there has been an increase in gang activity. However, it is not very wide spread, and the police go after any flare ups in areas where there are a lot of tourists or business people.

I don't know where you got your information from, but the amount of gang activity in San Diego is no-where near the problems they have in LA. The banks in San Diego have not had to install bullet proof windows to separate the tellers from the customers, and you can still go to an ATM in nearly every area, except the worst areas, without worry.

My grandparents live in Mira Mesa, and they have no problem with gangs or any other kind of crime. I visit them at least four times a year, and I have never seen any sign of trouble.

My sister lives in Ocean Beach, and there has been no sign of increase there, and my daughter lives in El Cajon, with three teen boys, and they have not experienced any increase either, although some areas are worse than others. The boys walk to high school and home every day.

In general no, however certain parts of the southern region are. National City and Chula Vista are places to avoid.

You can't compare the whole county. Some areas have more problems than others.
