It could be 28 minutes from now or 280 years from now. When the superpowers square off against each other in two camps, then come back and we'll talk apacolpse.
Until then, just think regional conflicts, wars between rump states, proxy wars and brinksmanship. If you recall the Yom Kippur War in 1973, a coalition of Arab States (Egypt, Syria and Jordan) were soundly defeated by the Israelis. That was a worse situation than the current conflict and it didn't raise a blip on the world war radar (not that it didn't have the potential to spark a global war).
The next World War will involve a nuclear exchange, how could it not. In the first 30 minutes, nearly a billion people will have been vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion will die shortly thereafter from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.
Eventually the nuclear winter will spread to the southern hemisphere and all plant life will die. You ask when is the apacolypse, you are asking when will we commit global suicide. My answer is it won't happen soon because the larger superpowers are more rational than the rump states in the middle east.
Our biggest risk is an accidental launch of nukes by one of the nuclear powers.

When most people use the phrase "the end of the world" they do so from by speaking from a "religious" or "apocalyptic" point of view.
What I find interesting about this is that the actual definition of this Greek word means "hidden" or "veiled" -- or to reveal something that is hidden or veiled. And has nothing to do with the type/kind of destruction that we commonly associate with it. Yes, other types/kinds of 'things' can be "destroy" in order to give way to something being "revealed" -- but typically what is destroyed is ignorance, lack of knowledge, etc.
Also consider that the Greek word that was (is) used to translate the word "world" from is/was AION -- or "age".
So when accurately translated, then the basic assumption that there IS "an end of the world" as we have been taught is false.
You can insert your own rationale as to why it is that we have been taught this.
Does this then mean that the world can NOT end? Of course not. Ancient Wisdom (and unrecorded ancient history) speak of a time when this world ended at least once before.
How did it end? Through a nuclear war.
Ever hear how history repeats itself?
How could it end now? Through a nuclear war.
There is more danger of this happening now then ever before.
There are other ways that "worlds end".
To experience one type/kind of "world ending" is for you, me or anyone else to die. Then "the world" -- as We know it will end for us.
There are also different "worlds" that can end as well. How so?
Well, one to consider is when thinking changes -- then that world -- in which certain ideas, beliefs, bias's, etc., end as a result of knowledge or the raising of consciousness -- then again, "that world" ends.
A simple example is when people thought the world was flat -- and then the knowledge that it wasn't was discovered. That world ended and a new one began.
There are many other similar examples -- and really it would probably be more correct to take the position that what you (and us) are experiencing are not "ends" but more towards "evolutions" or "levels of progressions" in a variety of "spheres" (worlds).
Upon what do you base your belief that the world is so fcked up right now? How is it more fcked up than it was 50 years ago -- or 1000 years ago?
In fact, it appears to me that from many perspectives, the world now is much better than it ever has been (in our recorded history) -- and therefore, barring our self-destruction by such a means a 'nuclear warfare', it would appear that we will do nothing but "get better" -- not worse.
If you think, feel and believe that the world is fcked up, then why don't you get off your dead buttocks and do something about it?
Doomsdayers are almost all alike -- as they really expect something outside, or other than themselves to take care of the problem; i.e., in this instance "destruction".
Really, it's the easy or lazy way out of our circumstances regardless of how you wish to characterize it as.
Also consider that the future is not set, and anyone who has attempted to forecast/predict what is or isn't going to happen has failed.
However, there is a sure fire way of making such "wasteful wishes" come true -- and that is to believe them and focus attention on them in such a way as to give the idea "energy" and hence becoming a powerful thoughtform which, "in the end" may cause the "end to come" just as you and others desire.
Therefore, assuming the possibility of what I just said is true, then, in reality who is REALLY responsible if the world WAS to end in the manner which you speak?
Regards,

The world is never going to end, it will always be here. The question is, will there be people alive on it?
The answer you're looking for is: most of the people on earth are probably going to die in the last months leading up to 12/21/2012. On 12/21/2012, the magnetic poles may reverse. No one knows what affect that would have, but it isn't expected to be pleasant. If a pole shift occurs, it will likely cause severe earthquakes, floods, volcanos, etc, that kill people as the earth undergoes major changes.
There are currently about 7 billion people on earth, and these events, if they happen, most likely would not kill everybody, so part of the answer to your question is, it never really ends, but occasionally there are new beginnings. Those who live past 12/21/2012 will face a new reality and the earth will be fundamentally different from the way we know it today.

Okay, if you want to believe the world shall end soon, than
1) stop/retard it, in any way you can, such as if you think it's because of global warming, do something
2) give all your money away to charity so all these people will be happy and you shall only suffer 43 years of abject poverty

The world will end when us humans put it to an end,we push this earth to it's very limits ,we pollute it daily,we overcrowd it ,we continue to push into animals habitats, when the world ends I don't know, but I do know that unless we start working on ways to correct our pollution they're will be no world to live on. And we will have nobody to blame but ourselves.
