If it is the one with the opening credits then the episode you are referring to is "Ms. Hellfire". It is the episode when there is and assassin is trying to kill the sisters and the assassin gets killed. Then Prue pretends to be the assassin to find out who sends her.

Piper was shot in "All Hell Breaks Loose" in season 3. This is also Prue's last episode.

If you are, that was the season finale of season three.
